Bespoke Steel Footbridge Over the River Avon

To safely demolish and remove an existing walkway and design, manufacture, and install a durable replacement footbridge suitable for a challenging riverside location.

Denton-Powell developed a safe and efficient installation strategy, including detailed RAMS and site assessments, and delivered a fully fabricated, corrosion-resistant steel structure installed via crane.

Fabrication and Installation
The project involved the demolition and removal of an existing unsafe walkway, followed by the installation of a modern replacement spanning the River Avon. Designed to meet current safety and durability standards, the new structure provides a long-term solution for safe pedestrian access.
Due to the challenging location and the requirement to work over water, the project required careful planning and coordination. Denton-Powell carried out multiple site visits to assess the feasibility and developed a comprehensive set of RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) to ensure a safe and efficient installation process.
The bridge was fabricated, galvanised, and powder coated to a marine-grade specification, providing enhanced protection against corrosion and environmental wear. Installation was completed using a crane to precisely lift the new footbridge into position.
To meet performance and durability requirements, the walkway features composite HD planking, chosen for its strength and resistance to weathering, ensuring longevity in an exposed riverside environment.
